I am pleased to announce that the Vandal Elite Challenge is now open to all of the RTW community with a cash prize up for grabs.

Match Play
The Challenge will consist of two phases.
1. Group Phase
2. Knockout Phase
Group Phase
The Group Phase will consist of 32 competitors divided into 8 Groups of 4 players the make up of each group will be drawn at random from the hat; players from the same Clans will be seeded in such a way to ensure that they will not meet during this phase of the Challenge. Should the response to the Challenge require it then the size of the Groups will be increased to a maximum of 6 players to each of 8 Groups making a total of 48 competitors for that phase of the Challenge.
The Players in each group will play each other twice, points for each match will be awarded as follows: Win 2 pts and in the Unlikely event of a Drawn Match 1 Pt to each player.
Qualifying for the Knockout phase: The top two players from each group will go forward to the knockout phase.
In the event of a tie for the second place in any one of the Groups then a Sudden Death play off will take place: Details of the type of Match Play will be at the discretion of the Administrator/Adjudicator.
Knockout Phase
The final 16 players in the Knockout Phase will be drawn against each other out of the hat; Players from the same Clan who reach this phase of the Challenge are no longer protected from the possibility of playing against each other.
Each match will consist of the best of three matches and will take the following format.
Type of Game play will be as for the Group Phase with the following additions, the first named Player drawn in the match will host the match and be designated as the Attacking player for that game, for the second game the host will then become the Defending player. Should there be the requirement to play a third game then the host will be designated as the Attacking player.
Points are as follows Winning 1pt therefore the Player who scores 2–0 or 2-1 is the winner of that match and will progress to the next round of the knockout phase.
Players may admit defeat during the Knockout without incurring a penalty.
All rounds of the Knockout phase will follow the same format except for the Final Round.
The Final
This will consist of the best of five matches with the format the same as for the previous knockout rounds. The first named player in the match will host and be the Attacking Player in the first game, third game and if required the fifth game. The player who scores 3-0 3-1 3-2 will be the winner and declared the Champion of the Vandal Elite Challenge.
The practice known as “Corner Camping” is prohibited and the penalty for this will be the forfeit of that particular game and the award of the maximum points available in that game to your opponent, “Base line Camping” is also prohibited and the penalty will be the same as for “Corner Camping”.
All games will be played on the same Terrain Map Flat Fertile Grassland.
A. Definition of Terms
For the purpose of this competition the following terms when used herein shall be deemed solely as indicated.
Cavalry: Any mounted unit regardless of whether the “mount” Is a horse, camel, elephant and chariot are considered mounted units and at all times are to be considered so for the purpose of the rule as Cavalry.
Foot Missile: Any unit so designated as Archer, Slingers, Javelin men, Bucellani, Crossbowmen, Goth Raiders, Steppe Raiders, Horde Hunters and Hunters are to be considered so for the purpose of the rule as Foot Missile.
Artillery: The following units are for the purpose of the rule is to be considered as Artillery, Ballistae, Onager, Heavy Onager, Carriage Ballistae, Scorpions and Repeating Ballistae
B. Selection Criteria
1. In making unit selections, no player may select more than 6 (six) of any one particular unit, For example you are permitted to select more than 6 (six) infantry units, it is not permitted to select more than 6 (six) units of Plumbartari.
2. The maximum number of Foot Missile Units is 6 (six) archers, hunters, raiders ect.
3. The maximum number of Artillery Units that each player may have is 2 (two).
4. The maximum number of Berserker type units is 1 (one).
5. The number of units of Cavalry that each person may select is 7 (seven). Missile Cavalry if selected will count towards your total Cavalry allowance, the maximum amount of Missile Cavalry that may be selected is 2 (two). For the purpose of the rule Elephants are not considered to be Missile Cavalry. Cantabrian Circle is not permitted.
6. The maximum number of Elephant type units permitted is 1 (one) if selected this unit will count towards your Cavalry total.
Hosting
Group Phase: By Agreement between Players
Knockout Phase: First named Player in each Tie
Should One player not be able to host then his opponent will host the game for him, The players will select teams so that it would have been as if the original player was hosting, the player who should of hosted as an attacker will retain his right to make his Faction Selection first provided of course that in any event that it would have been his turn to make that choice.
If Neither Player can host due to technical reasons then the Administrator is to be contacted, who will then arrange for a third party not associated as an active Challenge player to host as a Spectator so that the match can take place.
Faction Selection
Group Phase: Players will decide between them who is to host and pick Factions First.
Knockout Phase: The Attacking player for each individual game will pick his Faction First followed by the Defending Player.
Final: As per the Knockout Phase.
General Game Information
Map Selection for the Challenge will be Flat fertile Grassland for all of the Group and Knockout Phases.
Match Results Reporting and Disputes
All Match results are to be supported by a Screenshot which must show the outcome of the game, this should be taken by the winner of that game, should this not be possible then the loser should take a screenshot of the out come, if all fails then an email is to be sent to the Administrator by both players detailing the winner and type of victory all screenshots and correspondence relating to results are to be sent to the Administrator via email to steverolfe99@aol.com or to the Challenge Page found on the Vandal Horde Website.
Disputes in the event of a Dispute regarding any matter relating to Game play then the Administrator should be contacted in the first instance who will then provide the concerned parties with the contact details of an Adjudicator/Umpire who will decide upon the matter, whose decision will be final...
Any other dispute not relating to game Play then forward your concerns to the Administrator by email or by posting on the page on the Vandal Horde Website.
Results and Group tables will be updated on a daily basis depending on match returns and will be available on the Vandal Horde Website.
The Adjudicator/Umpire throughout the challenge will not be associated in any way to the RTW/BI community although he/she will have experience of online gaming and will be completely familiar with RTW/BI and the Challenge Rule Set.
Prize Money
The Prize fund available at the present time is £150.00 and is expected to grow as the interest for the challenge progress’s the prizes will be made up as follows
Winner £100.00
Runner up £50.00
This will be adjusted in proportion as the prize Fund grows.
Payment to the winners will be (based in UK) Bankers Cheque, Rest of Europe and USA Pay Pal or Money transfer (if the option of Money Transfer is used the Admin fee will come out of the Prize fund to the Individual)
Eligibility & Application
Eligibility
1. Minimum of 16 yrs of Age.
2. Have Barbarian Invasion and patch 1.6
3. Able to Host (This does not necessarily mean that a Competitor cannot take part just because he cannot host it is though preferred that he is able)
4. Have the map pack with flat fertile Grassland.
5. Able to provide a method of receiving the prizes
Application
Clan Members who wish to participate in The Vandal Max Challenge will only be considered if the application has come vie there own Clan leader/Chief, there will only be 32 spaces available primarily for Clan Members, but 6 spaces are to be reserved for individual players. Should these places not be taken then they will also be turned over to Clan Members, it will basically be on a first come first served basis.

General Information
The Administrator is not taking part in the challenge and is providing guidance to Moderators and a publishing role only.
The Group Phase is expected to take place over a 6 week period to allow players in different time zones to arrange mutually agreed dates and times.
The Knockout phase will follow immediately after
Start dates for Applications will be published in due course Clans may well take the opportunity to hold there own in house tourneys to decide who is going to enter the Challenge.

Umpire/Adjudicator: Mr David Goodwin has accepted the position of Adjudicator/Umpire and I can confirm that he is not connected in any way to the RTW or BI online gaming community, but is fully familiar with online gaming and participates in other Multiplayer games. His email and contact information is to remain private and will only be disclosed to those taking part in the Challenge when a formal dispute has been raised.
